ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Deadline: Abstracts must be received NOT LATER THAN: June 30th, 2010Please read carefully and follow the detailed instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Abstracts on any experimental and clinical research in all fields of paediatric surgery/urology are welcome. Abstracts must arrive not later than June 30th, 2010 and have to be submitted via e-mail. Abstracts will be reproduced in the programme, so please write them carefully. Fax transmission is not acceptable.CATEGORIES OF PRESENTATION:
Authors of abstracts must indicate their category of choice on the abstract form. Authors may choose one of the following categories:
- 5/6 minute presentation plus 3/4 minutes discussion: this category should be chosen to present clinical or experimental research studies.
- 3 minute presentation plus 2 minutes discussion: this category should be chosen to present preliminary results of ongoing studies (both clinical & basic research).
- Posters must have the following dimensions: height 100cm, width 70cm, and selected posters may be discussed in one of the sessions.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION
No mention of the institution’s or author’s name should be made in the abstract body. Submitted abstracts should include Title / Background / Aims / Methods / Results / Conclusions. In the Background / Aims section, comprehensive information on the reasons for the study should be given. Questions or hypotheses must be clearly stated. The Methods section must provide information so that the reviewers understand how the study / experiments were conducted. Indicate the methods of statistical analysis and levels of significance. The results section should contain data to support the conclusions. Extended discussions or literature reviews should be avoided. The abstract should be typed or printed in Arial 11 font. Abstracts must not contain more than 350 words. Abstracts with more than 350 words will be truncated.INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

It is imperative that the blinded abstract form, containing only the title and the text of the abstract, is also submitted. Please send both versions as individual files. Abstracts to be considered for the Aesculap Prize must be appropriately checked and require a covering letter. Please ensure that the text fits within the frame. You will be notified in writing following receipt of your abstract.

CRITERIA FOR ABSTRACT SELECTION
The Scientific Committee will judge the submitted abstracts on originality, scientific merit, study design, clarity of expression and presented of data. Strict adherence to the instructions for abstract preparation is mandatory. Failure to comply with these specifications will lead to rejection of the abstract.CRITERIA FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
All authors selected to present an Oral or Poster may submit a manuscript for consideration for publication in Paediatric Surgery International (PSI). Manuscripts (which should be prepared in the style used in Pediatric Surgery International) must be received no later than August 31st 2010 by Professor Prem Puri, Secretary of the Scientific Committee for evaluation at the following email address:vanessa.woods@ucd.ie

Notification - Authors will be informed regarding the acceptance or rejection of their submissions before the July 26th, 2010.
The ultimate number of papers accepted for publication will depend upon the number of manuscripts received by the due date, the ability to conform to the overall page limit of the issue as dictated by PSI and assessment for originality, importance, scientific merit, study design, and writing quality. Presentation of your paper is not a guarantee of acceptance for publication.
